Fun Times with Ashton
Over the last month Ashton has made it through 3 viruses back to back. One of which being "leaky-bum" for 8 days! So, he has spent many days soaking in the kitchen sink, some of the time crying, but mostly playing with his Backyardigans figurines.
Ashton also had the chance to attend "Bentley's Barnyard Birthday Bash" with a mini-farm that consisted of an alpaca, goat, sheep, rabbits, a furry chicken, and Shetland ponies! Wow, it was fun! He wasn't so sure about the pony cart ride, it starting going pretty quick and he made it known he was finished...

The Many Faces of ASHTON
We hope you enjoy these shots of Ashton's facial expressions as much as we do. I guess they are a bit different in person because of the sound effects! Picture #5 is blurred, but believe it or not it was worse before it was edited. That picture is the only reason this photo shoot even got started! Ashton was watching T.V., making all sorts of noise (and spitting) with that face so out the camera came!

What's Behind Curtian Number One?
See anything?...
How about now?
Let's give you a closer look...
As we were doing our Saturday chores we had Ashton watching T.V. and playing with his toys. At some point during our cleaning we heard Ashton but could not find him. As we searched the house we finally noticed that the Ashy noises were coming from the bathroom behind the bulging shower curtain! What a turkey!
He has been crawling now for about 1 1/2 weeks (YEAH!), but needless to say he has also caught on to everything else at the same time like standing up and climbing anything he can! He obviously remembers where the bath time toys are are well!
Another quick update...he has been sick for 4 or 5 days. We found out earlier this week that he has RSV bronchiolitis. The last 3 days have been rough for him. He has had a horrible cough and a quite a hard time breathing. He was put on a breathing treatment yesterday to help him sleep better and fortunately it has helped. Poor guy! We think he's had more than his share of physical ailments, but sadly we know it won't end here. We're hoping he's on the up and up now and will return soon to our healthy happy Ashy!

Happy New Year!
We are so excited to start a new year! We admit 2006 was a hard year for us and we look forward to what 2007 will bring. Ashton has been such a joy for us and we have relished in every moment spent with him.
Last month brought many events into our already busy lives... our 8th year anniversary, Ashton's 1 year birthday, and of course Christmas, but all these within the same week! Needless to say we had a great time despite all of the craziness! The only thing is that we will have this same routine every year for the rest of our lives! We can't complain though, we did have control over our wedding date and pretty much Ashton's due date, so what can we say?
Ashton loved our Christmas tree and the LGB train that would circle around it. The first time he saw it coming around the tree he started clapping his hands and looking at us like it was the neatest thing he's ever seen...it probably was. This became a ritual each time we went to watch the train.Ashton's birthday was also a giant landmark for us. We celebrated at Grandma and Grandpa Lodder's house with a "Fishy" party. We gave him a fish aquarium for his gift so naturally the theme came from there.

Mom was pretty impressed with herself as she went all out with fish decorations, including real goldfish in bowls for center pieces, but most of all the cake...
Christmas was also exciting for all. Ashton isn't quite to the "fun age" but he started to get the hang of opening presents after so much practice on his birthday. This is mom and Ashy on Christmas morning at 7:00am waiting for cousin Emma to wake up and have Christmas!December 15, 2006
The Helmet
As most of you know, Ashton was being treated with helmet therapy for plagiocephaly. He had started with a flatness around 2 months old and by his 6th month check up Dr. Folland told us it was the flattest he'd seen. You know it's bad when the family friend pediatrician whose been practicing over 30 years tells you this. However it did make us feel better to know that it isn't necessarily from being on his back too much, some babies have softer skulls than others. So up to Primary Children's we headed. 3 head castings, 2 head scans, multiple pictures, at least 13 appointments, and 6 helmets later he was finally in the helmet that worked best! Treatment lasted for approximately 20 long weeks, and we're more than thrilled to say he's finished! We don't feel the results are as great as we originally had hoped for, but we're told it should just get better from here.

Finally, an update!
Well, I'm sure you all thought we were never comming back, it's been so long since we've updated our blog! The summer has been fun and a little busy, and now we're back! Just a few pictures since our last update...
He thought his baby pool was fun in Grandma's backyard.
However, notice the lack of water...there was a leak, Bummer!
but we were happy to get this shot.
My brother Chase gradutated from Brighton High School in June.
He also received and is now serving a
mission down at Temple Square as a garden aide.
We are so proud of him!

We were also so excited for the newest addition to our
Lodder family to arrive...
Sweet princess Emma Ann Taylor!
She was born exactly 6 months and 12 hours apart from Ashton.
I guess that could mean they're destined to be best budds!
(Isn't she a cutie?)

Boy, how five months "roll" by!
Ashton turned 5 months old yesterday! We can't believe how he's grown and how cute he is! He taught himself how to roll over from his tummy to his back on May 8th. He is so proud of himself when this happens and thinks it is way too much fun.
For those of you who are wondering...Ashton weighs 16.6 pounds and is 25.75 inches long-which is surprisingly less than 1 pound heavier than at 4 months.
